(2 to 3 hours) Do you want to learn how to climb outdoors? Rio is probably the most accessible city in the world for beginner climbers to have big adventures. Hundreds of routes to choose from. Amazing views. And all within walking distance of the beach! For people that have never climbed outdoors before but want to learn everything they need to know for outdoor multi-pitch climbing this is an excellent option. We will take you to one of the many beginner routes in Urca to familiarize you with all the gear and procedures before heading up an easy multi-pitch climb. We will climb 1 or 2 (maybe 3!)pitches of some accessible route, while showing you the basics, such as how to belay a leader, how to climb on slab, how to clean the pitch and how to rappel down safely back to the ground. This 2 to 3 hour introductory class doesn’t replace a fully certified course, but it’s the best choice for those who are interested in learning the basics while also getting out on some great rock. Doesn’t require previous climbing experience.
