Sugarloaf Scramble
The Costao hike/ Sugarloaf Scramble – Costão is a great route and definitely the best way for less experienced yet more adventurous people to get to the top of the mountain. It mixes everything from dirt trails to steep rock slabs and even includes one short 25 meter section of rock climbing that requires the use of a rope and harnesses.
Accessible for individuals with no previous climbing experience, Costão is still a demanding adventure with exposed aerial views and is recommended for those that consider themselves to be comfortable with heights and in good physical shape. A perfect afternoon activity, that has the extra advantage of a free ride down on the cable car until Morro da Urca + easy down hike until the ground.
